Friend

Good bye my friend

Rollin Alexander Khoury Born 10-23-1973 Died 11-6-2009

Alex graduated from Waco High School and was a 1996 graduate of Texas A&M University, during which time he spent a semester abroad in Florence, Italy and Prague, Czech Republic. He attended dental school at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, after which he completed a four- year residency in oral and maxillofacial surgery at the John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County in Chicago, Ill. On Sept. 4, 2005, he was joined in holy matrimony with Rachel Heather Sanchez, also a graduate of Texas A & M, where they first met and fell in love. They were blessed with a beautiful son, Griffin Alexander, on Oct. 28, 2006. After marriage, Alex and Rachel settled in Austin, where he developed a career as an oral surgeon and created a life for their family. Most recently, he was associated with Dr. Howard Cooke in Dallas and the Manos de Cristo Clinic in Austin. At Manos de Cristo, he was able to do two things he loved, serve those less fortunate and speak foreign languages. He also spent time working in clinics on the Texas/Mexico border and went on a dental mission trip to Honduras in February of 2008. While growing up in Waco, Alex was active in theater and singing. He was a member of the Singing Cadets during his first year at Texas A & M. In dental school, he served as president of his freshman and third-year classes and president of the student body his final year. Alex was an avid mountain climber, para jumper, snow skier and snow boarder. He played tennis and golf, loved watching movies and playing ball with his loyal companion, Chloe, his golden retriever. He was an avid traveler, who visited Japan, Costa Rica, Thailand, Western Europe and Mexico. He kept a log of all his travels and had traveled to over 19 countries and 35 states. Over the years, Alex formed a number of very close friends and associates with whom he kept in touch and whose company he enjoyed immensely. His absence leaves a void in the lives of all who knew and loved him. God rest his soul in peace. He leaves behind his devoted wife, Rachel; and his adoring son, Griffin Alexander.

Gools and Goblins

The night was cool and fun! All the little princesses, Hanna Montana's, Dracula's, sesame street characters, and little mermaids were out and about on this Halloween night. Our good friends invited us to a haunted trick or treat hayride. They had a large dully truck that had a very long trailer loaded up with hay and Halloween lights and decor all around it. This was our automobile for a few parents and kiddos.

After we all loaded up, they tugged us around the neighborhoods in this contraception. It was really neat and honestly it is the way to go. All the kids were so excited their friends could come along and enjoy the fun at the same time. We all wore special glow bands so we could identify each parent and child.

We would head to a nearby street and unload and go from house to house. The trailer would then drive the end of the last house that had its lights on the block and wait for all of us to load up. We saw lots of friends of ours and it was defiantly a conversation starter. I think this will be a tradition for us with the Jacks. Cannot wait til next year!

My Cheerleaders

Every year the Varsity Cheerleaders has a camp which the elementary kids can attend and perform at the high school game. This is exciting for my girls. Every Friday the little ones get to dress up in there cheer leading uniform to go to school, so the hype of this day was excelled. They did so well in there performance. I was one of many proud moms on the side lines taking lots of pictures and cheering their name as they made there way in. The town was at ahhh, when the announcer made his announcment, "allright lampasas this is what we've been talking about all week long, our future cheerleaders!" It was so cute! I am so proud of them.

1st Day of School

It is bitter sweet in this family. I am excited that the girls are in school but it is a reminder that little ones do not stay so little. My babies started kindergarten. Where did the time go? People would tell me, "remember and Cherish these moments because before you know it they are all grown up!" Well, now I know this is so true. It was like yesterday that they were babies crawling around looking for there their Binky's. I took some pics that I would love to share. The girls woke up so happy ready for school. When we dropped of Bella in her class she was fine. She said, "Bye mom" with no problem. As we eased down the hall getting closer and closer to Allison's room she just clenched on to me. It did not help that this other little girl was crying hysterically for her mommy to go home. I just looked down at her and smiled. When we approached her desk, she backed off and said, " I think I'm not going to like this at all and I wont make any friends!" I bent down and said, "you will be just fine. You need to be positive about school. You will love it and make plenty of friends." Ms. McDonald, Allison's teacher, came over and helped her through it. As we were leaving we wanted a picture of her and her teacher. This is how I left her. After that my husband and I walked out. I just balled all the way home.

vacation

It's been awhile since I have posted anything. With vacation and what knot it has been CRAZY! This summer has been the best by far. The girls are getting a little older and we seem to do more things with them. The lord has really been good to us. I can still remember driving up to the hotel and listening to the girls screech and saying, "Mommy, is this where we are staying?" This is what makes it worth every penny!

For this year's vacation we took them to Galveston. The first night we stayed at Moody Gardens. We explored all three pyramids, museums, the man made beach, and let's not forget the wonderful 4D theaters. Yes my friends, 4D. You have to see it to believe it. The best way I can describe it is sight, touch and feel movie.

Once we checked in we started hitting the attractions. There is so much to do. By the time the day ended we were exhausted to say the least. Didn't hurt our appetite. We raced to the restaurants. I think we hurt our wallet by eating out everyday all day long. One of our favorite resturant was the Rainforest Cafe'. They even had a water ride. It is not at all locations but some of them have it.

After Moody Gardens extravaganza we checked into our hotel across the road from the beach. We didn't know what to expect with the hurricane. They really cleaned things up. Very nice indeed. So on Wednesday we headed to Schlitterbaun. We opened it and closed it. We were burnt, bruised and ready to drop. I know I am getting older. My kids could of gone another 4 hours. The next day was a different story. We hit the beach full throttle. I am still trying to get sand out of our Jeep.

Our goal as parents is to make many wonderful memories for our girls. Whether it is a nice vacation somewhere or just hanging around the house together. Some of my best memories growing up was doing much of nothing but making the best out of what we had. We have been blessed this year with the opportunity to save for this special trip.

Princesses

This is what completes me. My girls. These are the moments that make me the happiest. It might not be much to others, but just hanging around at the house; playing house, becoming little princesses is all we need. It's these special moments that I capture and engrave it in my mind and heart. And yes, someday when the girls are older. I will come across these pictures, and it will set me back in time and complete me as it did then. There is nothing better!
